Mara Explorer Camp **** (10 tents) is situated directly on the Talek River. Each tent overlooks the wildlife-rich south bank of the River Talek. The camp’s surroundings and location allow for wonderful game viewing, even from the bed, bath or veranda. The tents have been specially designed to open up to the sky. On a deck to one side, a Victorian claw-foot bathtub offers a secluded open-air bath – and a unique new perspective on the African bush.

Masai Mara Game Reserve (size 1’812 km²)
Is the northern extension of Tanzania’s famous Serengeti Plains and is situated in the south-west of Kenya. It offers breathtaking views. Most of “Out of Africa” was filmed here. The Masai Mara is the premier place for seeing wildlife with a big chance of spotting the ‘BIG FIVE’: Lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. The Mara and the Talek River meander through the park and are flanked by riverine woodland and seasonal marshes. Grassland plains, rolling hills, and wooded savannah, dominate the landscape of the Masai Mara. The MIGRATION – one of the wonders of the world. The reserves is most extraordinary between July and October when over 1,3 mil. wildebeest and zebra move together in a massive herd from the Serengeti across the Mara River into the lush Masai Mara in search of dry-season pastures. Mara hosts a large resident population of elephants, hippos, topis, buffalos, giraffes, gazelles and few of the rare rhinos. Predators are plenty, notably large pride of lions, cheetahs and leopards. Birding is excellent. The pastoral Maasai people live just outside the reserve and lead a semi-nomadic life.
