Main Governors Camp โ (30 tents) lies in the forest and along the banks of the Mara River its waters are home to crocodile and hippo. Initially the camp was exclusively reserved for Kenyaโs Colonial Governors and Royalty. The camp is not fenced off and animals make take a leisurely walk through the site. All tens are spacious and in luxurious classic safari style. Some tents front the river; others offer a view across the wide plain.
Masai Mara Game Reserve (size 1โ812 kmยฒ)
Is the northern extension of Tanzaniaโs famous Serengeti Plains and is situated in the south-west of Kenya. It offers breathtaking views. Most of โOut of Africaโ was filmed here. The Masai Mara is the premier place for seeing wildlife with a big chance of spotting the โBIG FIVEโ: Lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. The Mara and the Talek River meander through the park and are flanked by riverine woodland and seasonal marshes. Grassland plains, rolling hills, and wooded savannah, dominate the landscape of the Masai Mara. The MIGRATION โ one of the wonders of the world. The reserves is most extraordinary between July and October when over 1,3 mil. wildebeest and zebra move together in a massive herd from the Serengeti across the Mara River into the lush Masai Mara in search of dry-season pastures. Mara hosts a large resident population of elephants, hippos, topis, buffalos, giraffes, gazelles and few of the rare rhinos. Predators are plenty, notably large pride of lions, cheetahs and leopards. Birding is excellent. The pastoral Maasai people live just outside the reserve and lead a semi-nomadic life.
Day 2 Masai Mara โ Diani Baech
